Currently we are seeking either a part-time or full-time Conduct of Work Field Mentor.

Responsibilities include:

  • Communicating and monitoring safety policies and procedures in support of compliance
  • Maintaining consistent communication with client point of contacts (POCs), lead mentors and project management
  • Participating in meetings to facilitate project/workforce goals and objectives plus provide project status reports
  • Highlighting progress, delays and issues
  • Assessing and mentoring personnel on disciplined and structured operations that support facility and/or project mission success and ensure worker, public and environmental protection
  • Participating in performance-based assessments against established requirements in all areas of operations
  • Interviewing personnel to determine facility or project depth of knowledge and their responsibilities for safe operations
  • Providing guidance and recommendations
  • Supporting continuous improvement efforts
  • Recording and sharing observations specific to operational and maintenance/work control concerns
  • Recognizing positive behavior and practices
  • Addressing negative behavior and processes
  • Fostering and maintaining healthy working relationships
  • Supporting and disseminating the principles of Human Performance Improvement (HPI), Conduct of Work and Conduct of Operations (ConOps)
  • Interfacing with all levels and disciplines performing work activities to assess/mentor on sound ConOps, Conduct of Work or HPI standards
  • Delivering appropriate and effective communication

Ideal candidate will have:

  • BA/BS in related field plus 10 years of direct related experience, or a combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in maintenance, operations and/or radiological control
  • Minimum of 7 years in a supervisory role that includes elements of leadership and/or mentoring
  • 10 years of Hanford Site experience, other Department of Energy (DOE) facility, Hazard Category 2 and 3 nuclear facility experience or other similar operation such as the military
  • Experience working in work control products, procedure development and reviews and field work activities
  • Experience working in work activities in high-risk environments (e.g., high radiation areas, high contamination areas, airborne radioactive areas)
