And because our team is made up of people who have been there and done that, what we offer them isn’t just some classroom time and maybe a few motivational posters to put up on the wall. We evaluate their situation, and then we support and mentor them back into a position of strength.

Historically we’ve worked mainly with companies in the nuclear industry, but we’re making inroads into other industries such as coal mining and coal-powered energy providers. We offer a wide range of technical and non-technical services, from staff augmentation to programmatic support and reviews.

Most of our clients know they need to improve, but they don’t know where to start in terms of identifying issues and building a path to resolution. Usually the problem isn’t so much that someone is doing a bad job as that they don’t know how to fix it. In many cases the management teams that find their projects and organizations are performing poorly aren’t equipped to dig their way out.

They come to us for help because we’re known for our wide-ranging resources and high level of expertise. The people on the Lucas team have credibility; they’re multi-skilled engineers with years of experience, who know what life’s like in the trenches. So we’ll offer you a little bit of theory just to get the basics in place, but most of our mentoring involves going out into the field with you, implementing change at worker level, and showing you how to get the job done yourself.

And that’s the real difference between us and most business consultants. Lucas wasn’t initially established to fix other companies’ operational problems. We have moved into this field because we are good at operations management. When you’re good, sharing what you’re good is a logical extension of that work, and it’s the right thing to do.
